In this 2 hour session we will go over the process of locating an appropriate pattern for printing. For class, a pattern will be provided. We will then do the following.
- Convert (slice) the file so that it is printer ready.
- Set up a printer for printing (pre-heat, load filament, make sure the print surface is ready).
- Transfer print file to an SD card, and load the file on the printer.
- Clear the printer after the print is complete. (clear the print surface, unload the filament
While printing is underway, we will discuss proper handling and storage of filament (PLA). And details to watch out for such as, first layer issues, and printer nozzle size changes.
Upon completion you will be certified to use the Prusa printers within the space.
A computer will be available during class but you are strongly encouraged to bring your own laptop with you, and to download and install the Prusa slicer in advance. If you bring that along, I will help you get it set up and you will be able to do much of this work on your own computer. The software is free and it can be downloaded from the following location.
